GPA Calculator
Compute your Grade Point Average on the standard 4.0 scale. Add courses with their credit hours and letter grade (A through F, with pluses and minuses), and the GPA, total credits and grade points update live. Remove or add rows at any time — invalid rows are silently skipped so partial entries don’t skew the result.
How to use
- 1
Add a course
Click “Add course” to append a new row. Type the course name (optional), enter the credit hours and pick a letter grade from the dropdown.
- 2
Pick the letter grade
Each letter grade maps to a fixed point value: A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, B = 3.0 and so on down to F = 0.0. The points for each row are shown beneath it.
- 3
Read the GPA
The big number is your weighted GPA: Σ(credits × grade points) ÷ Σ(credits). Total credits and total grade points are listed below.
- 4
Remove or reset
Use the trash icon to remove a course, or Reset to restore the sample data. Invalid credit values are silently skipped in the calculation.
Common use cases
- Predict your semester GPA before transcripts are released.
- Work out what grade you need in your final class to hit a target GPA.
- Convert a foreign transcript to the 4.0 scale for a US graduate application.
- Track GPA recovery across semesters after a difficult term.
Limitations
- This calculator uses the common US 4.0 scale with +/- modifiers. Some institutions use different scales (4.3, 5.0, weighted AP/IB) — check your registrar’s official scale before relying on the result.
- Plus/minus mappings follow a typical convention (A = 4.0, A- = 3.7, B+ = 3.3, …). A few schools omit A+ or cap it at 4.0; we treat A as 4.0 with no A+ option.
- The GPA is unweighted — honours, AP, IB or college-credit weighting is not applied.
- Courses with non-numeric or non-positive credits are silently skipped, as are rows with no grade selected.
